Privacy Policy

1. Purpose of the app

VideoPasst is an Android app for reducing the size of individual videos locally. You choose a video and a quality or target-size option. The app creates a new MP4 copy with H.264 video and AAC audio.

VideoPasst does not require a user account. The original video is neither modified nor deleted automatically.

2. Selection and local processing

VideoPasst processes only the video you open through Android's system picker or send to VideoPasst through Android's share function. The app can access the selected video's content and the file information technically required for selection, preview and processing.

Processing takes place entirely on your Android device. The video, its file name and preview image are not transmitted to Vareldan Studio, a proprietary server or a cloud service.

Results vary depending on the selected option and the source video. VideoPasst does not guarantee a particular file size, quality level or processing support on every device.

3. Temporary files and saving the output

During processing, VideoPasst creates a temporary output file in the app's private storage. This file is used to complete processing and make the result available before it is saved permanently.

Cancelled or orphaned partial outputs are cleaned up locally. A permanent copy is created only when you explicitly choose “Save”. The original video remains unchanged.

4. Opening and sharing

When you open or share an output, Android passes the file you selected to the external app you choose. From that point on, further processing is governed by that app's or provider's privacy rules and settings.

VideoPasst does not determine how an external app processes the file after it has been passed on.

5. Internet access, advertising and telemetry

VideoPasst has no internet permission. The app does not upload videos and uses no cloud processing.

The app contains no advertising, tracking, analytics, app telemetry or watermark.

6. Website and support

The website and the studio@vareldan.com mailbox are provided by STRATO GmbH, Otto-Ostrowski-Straße 7, 10249 Berlin, Germany. STRATO processes personal data as a processor. According to STRATO, its data centres are operated in Germany.

When this page is accessed, the web server processes technically necessary connection data. This may include the IP address, access time, requested resource, transferred data volume, referrer, browser or operating-system information and HTTP status. STRATO anonymises IP addresses in the access logs made available to its customers. STRATO's general privacy information states that log and temporary data are commonly retained for a few days and for no longer than 60 to 90 days, depending on security or operational requirements.

Processing serves secure delivery, error analysis and prevention of abuse. The legal basis is Article 6(1)(f) GDPR; the legitimate interest is the secure and reliable operation of the website.

This website uses no cookies, analytics, advertising, forms or external fonts. The theme selection is stored only in the browser and is not transmitted to Vareldan Studio.

When you send a message to studio@vareldan.com, the information you provide is processed. This may include your email address, name, message content, attachments and technical headers. Depending on the enquiry, processing is based on Article 6(1)(b) GDPR for contractual or pre-contractual communication, Article 6(1)(c) GDPR for legal obligations, or Article 6(1)(f) GDPR for general support and secure documentation of communications.

Support messages are retained only for as long as they are needed to handle the request, securely document the communication or meet statutory retention duties. The specific period depends on the content and purpose of the request.

7. Legal bases

To the extent that local video processing is legally attributable to the controller, it is carried out to provide the app function expressly requested by you under Article 6(1)(b) GDPR.

Processing related to security, troubleshooting and support may be based on Article 6(1)(f) GDPR. The legitimate interests are secure operation, troubleshooting, prevention of abuse and responding to enquiries.

8. Retention and deletion options

Temporary output files remain in the app's private storage only for as long as they are needed to process and provide the result. Cancelled or orphaned partial outputs are cleaned up locally.

A permanently saved MP4 copy remains in the location you selected until you delete it. Clearing app data or uninstalling the app removes its private storage in accordance with Android's rules, but does not automatically modify already saved outputs or the original video.

Because VideoPasst has no user account or proprietary server, the controller cannot view or remotely delete data held only locally by the app.

9. Recipients and transfers outside the EU/EEA

VideoPasst does not transmit the selected video or local output to Vareldan Studio or a proprietary server. Recipients may be involved only in separate contexts:

• an external app you choose when opening or sharing an output;
• STRATO as the provider of the website and support mailbox.

Where an external app or its provider processes data, its privacy information applies. If STRATO or a STRATO subprocessor processes data outside the EU or EEA in a specific case, the safeguards specified in the data-processing agreement apply.

10. Data-subject rights

Where the legal requirements are met, individuals have, in particular, rights to access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability, object to processing based on legitimate interests, and lodge a complaint with a data-protection authority.

Requests may be sent to studio@vareldan.com. Without a transmission or user account, the controller cannot remotely associate data held only locally by the app with an individual or erase it.
